School of Biblical Christian Worldview (SBCW)

Next School of Biblical Christian Worldview:
04 July – 23 September 2010 (3 week outreach in planing)

Do you know what you believe and why?  And what you do not believe and why? Are you a leader or are you led by others and their convictions?

In the SBCW we want to question our perspective and come to terms with the biblical understanding of reality.  On the basis of this, we want to train Christians to be able to take responsibility in all areas of society and life (Family, Business, Media, Politics, Sports, etc.).

Reformation is happening today – through you as well ?!

Cost: 3,300.- Swiss Francs (incl. housing, food, VAT)
A (voluntary) 4-6 week cross-cultural outreach follows

What is the SBCW?

To have a biblical worldview means to see the world "through God’s eyes".  If you want God to challenge you to have clearer vision, the SBCW is the right place for you.  We believe that God and His Word is the standard which should form us and our value system.

In the SBCW we want to help you to closely examine your worldview – the conscious or unconscious beliefs you hold which form the basis for your life and actions.  Discover what has formed you and the society in which you grew up.

The Good News of Jesus Christ is about much more than personal salvation. We believe that a biblical view of reality is effective in all areas of society.  It generates and transforms life – and it transforms society!  We want to discover how we can meet the challenges of the 21st Century with a perspective of hope.

This school gives insight into the thinking behind current social and political changes.  We want to come to terms with the prevailing trends and worldviews, tackle current sociological issues and look at their historical and philosophical origins.

The curriculum consists of three parts:

1. Analyze the thought and belief systems which have formed our thinking.
Introduction to philosophy, the streams of thought of western history, youth culture and trends, various religions, natural sciences, politics, and so on.

2. Learn to think biblically.
receive tools which will enable us to evaluate what we hear, see and read. An introduction to biblical thinking, a media workshop, films, etc.

3. Learn to apply biblical Christian thinking in the various spheres of life and society.
Stewardship, ethics, work on specific subjects, discussions, excursions, community life, mentoring.

Each student will have a mentor.  Individual areas of interest and application can be worked through in personal tutorial meetings.  We place great value on keeping the SBCW from just being a place where new knowledge is acquired, but we desire that this knowledge is put into practice and the school should be a time of personal and character growth.  We want to learn together, to grow and celebrate life – this takes place in the classroom, but it also happens in group discussions, workshops, prayer times, parties, during practical work and in living together as a community.

Former students say the following about the SBCW:

  • "The SBCW awoke an active interest in politics in me.  I never realized how important it is for us to be participative and have a voice."
    Lizzi L., CH

  • ”The SBCW has shown me how important it is to think through my own worldview on the basis of my belief system.  It was exciting to have the opportunity to work through ethical, political and societal issues on the basis of the Christian faith and it showed me that I don’t just want to live my Christianity in the church but that it is also fun to think through current affairs.  And the Bible has something to say about it!”
    Sandra J., D

  • ”The SBCW helped me to be able to generally evaluate things that I face daily.  And it offered me a good basis for refining that evaluation ability – a process that is never complete in life … “
    Daniel H., CH

  • ”The SBCW was the tool that God used to wake me up from living out a narrow-minded and hidden Christianity.”
    Simona N., Romania

  • ”The school was not simply over for me after three months – I work with what I learned in the SBCW in my everyday life.”
    Hanna F., Sweden
